I am 40 weeks and 2 days pregnant and for the last 2 nights I have been restless in bed.. not able to sleep longer than an hour at a time. I have been told that my baby is fully engaged and have been having increased mucus discharge (Sorry 2muchinfo)

Also.. I have just been awoken to nausea and diarrhea... which is very pleasant.. but i have heard that loose stools are normal before labor as your body is getting ready.. is this true?

This is my first baby, so im not really sure what to expect.

I have had the feeling of period pain (constant) and some stronger pains for the last 12 hrs or so.. but its nothing like i thought labor would be like.. i expect it to be much worse.

Could this be the start?

  1. Beginning pains of labor can vary for every person...and they can absolutely begin as strong "period cramps". Since you are past your due date, you should definitely call your doctor!

Good Luck! Don't worry, YOU'LL DO GREAT!

  2. This is exactly how my labor started.  Call the doc and get to the hospital.  It'll get more painful just before you deliver.

I just had my first and was surprised at how much the start of labor didn't hurt as well.

  3. i was like that for 4 days and then it just stopped I am 39 weeks so it could be labor it could be false labor. i would wait and see if the contractions get more intense.

  4. honestly... idk. i'm having the same symptoms (except the sleeping problem. i sleep like a baby!lol. i'm 41wks. but this may be it. have u lost your mucus plug yet?

  5. You are in labor. Call your doctor.  Not kidding, you really are! Labor pains start out mild to moderate and then get more intense once the labor really gets going. Get on the phone with your doctor and tell him what's going on.
