  1. go for it!! you're perfect, just the way you are. have fun in ballet :)

  2. I'd say to go for it. =)

I take pointe/ballet. And it's not just a matter of your weight, it's flexibility and strength and grace too. I'm not very thin either, and dancing is a good way to stay in shape. It's a whole lot of fun.

If your looking at an expensive or more professional studio, there will be girls in your class that are rail thin and have been taking ballet five days (or more) a week since the were three. It's also stricter at places like that, so if you are looking for something more laid-back, try to find a smaller studio that offers what your looking for. The studio I take at is almost as good as any other, but it's less uptight and it's easygoing. I love it.

    I hope you have fun!

  3. First of all, congratulations on losing all that weight! I wish I would lose weight but I am a bit lazy when it comes to exercising unless it's a life or death matter >.> It wouldn't hurt to lose a bit more pounds but if you feel comfortable and if you desire to learn ballet, go right ahead. No one can tell you that you can't do ballet because you weigh too much. My first ballet teacher (this was when I was 7 or 8) told me that I needed to stop eating because I was fat. And my mom to this day still thinks that my first teacher was a sweetie pie *rolls eyes* But I'm doing ballet now and I love it. Unless you want to go into a professional career or get very serious about ballet, you are fine as long as you feel comfortable...

The key point is if you feel comfortable and really want to do ballet, go for it. Don't let anything stupid stop you =)

  4. Wow, first congrats on that weight loss, You should be so proud of yourself. You can take ballet just the way you are.  So go have fun!

  5. How old are you?

  6. omg...u should b very proud of urself!!! I'm proud of u 4 loosing the weight!! lol Take ballet!!! NOW!! U r not to heavy...i dont think u r planning to go prof..so go for it. plus it will be great excersise and u'll shed a few more pounds. Take ballet.

  7. wow... that's crazy how much weight you lost... that's awesome! You should definitely take ballet, I weigh ten pounds less than you and I've danced since I was 3. You don't have to be a prima ballerina to take ballet! yay have fun! :D

  8. no ur not to big for dance! and dance helps u lose the pounds!

  9. who is telling you you what you have to be! anyone can dance! i will admit that you probably won't make it professionally, but who am i to tell you what you can't do! besides if you take ballet seriously you will become whatever weight is good for you. eat well and exercise (ballet counts) and don't let anyone that isn't a doctor tell you to loose weight.

  10. if you want to do ballet as a profession, yes, you are slightly overweight, however, you have to be VERY skinny to do that

but if it is your form of exercise, go for it!! i know people who are overweight and started ballet, and it has make them slim down a little, but you have to be strong, for in your classes there will definately be some skinny girls... as long as you have confidence, you'll do fine

  11. how tall r u?

  12. Wow you did lose a lot of weight. No 150 is fine for ballet. You can be any weight and do ballet...although it is more difficult the larger you get. But you should be fine. I remember a while back..we had a lady who was probably about 200 lbs taking ballet. She had a hard time for a while...but she ended up being pretty decent at dancing in the end. : ) If you put your mind to it, you can do it.
