  1. It depends on the quality of the breeder.  I'd be concerned about anyone who calls themselves a "professional dog breeder."  Nobody doing it right makes money - it's too expensive to breed dogs and make a living at it.  Quality breeders only have a litter or two a year, show their dogs, health test all their dogs prior to breeding and screen potential owners carefully.

  2. please dont buy from a pet store, most come from puppy mills and if you dont know what that is then look it up. it is a horrible terrible thing and when you buy from a puppy store you are just supporting that.

millions of dogs and cats are put down everyday because there are not enough good homes for them.

and no that is cheap. why dont you just save yourself $850 and go to the shelter and adopt one for less than $100

  3. Are we talking dollars or pounds?  ÃƒÂ‚£750-£850 is the price you would expect to pay for a Pure-bred Golden Retriever in the UK nowadays.

For this price you would expect the puppy to have been wormed and vaccinated prior to you picking it up and it should come with Papers. i.e. Full Pedigree and evidence of its parents' Hip and Elbow Scoring from the BVA. plus full instructions from the Breeder re care, feeding and future worming regime.

  4. Depends on the quality of the puppy and what you are looking for.  Unless you want to breed and or show there really is no point in paying that much.  However, if the puppy is good quality, from show stock then that is a reasonable price.

  5. it about right and it depends on the breeder

  6. Thats an aweful lot of money for a dog, shop around

  7. That's way too much.  Now check out a shelter, they have golden retrievers there.  My niece got hers at a shelter and it's a great dog.

  8. Yes.  There are perfectly fine and adorable dogs on their deathbed at the shelter for free or low cost.

Please just consider a visit.  Please.

  9. Not if its a responsible breeder doing genetic testing OFA, CERF, ect... I'd be worried about a breeder calling themelves professional. Responsible breeders often lose money on their puppies.

  10. If you want a purebred puppy of any sort, expect to pay. You can shop around for a cheaper price though. I got a boxer puppy for $500 and have seen them go up to $1200.  A friend of mine also got a bullmastiff puppy and she paid $1300.  So I say if you can get a better deal, go for it, otherwise purebreds arent cheap.  Good luck!

  11. Who cares about the money, it may be alot, but if u like this dog, shouldnt u consider giving it a home not just say, is it too much to pay for a dog, thats like sayng is it too much to pay to save this dogs life?

  12. Yea, Petleand in my town wanted 1100 for a golden.

I got my golden puppy for 600. He is 5 months today.

  13. If the breeder is responsible and has health tested their adult breeding animals, then that price is very reasonable.

Find out what they are breeding for, are they breeding for the show ring are they breeding for the field or are they just slapping two dogs together to make a buck.
