Question:

Is this too simple for a birthday party?

I have a Chuck E Cheese birthday party planned for my daughter a week after her actually birth date. This party is for our family and a few friends. But on my daughter's actual birth date I'd like to do something to acknowledge that. So I thought of just having a few of her neighborhood friends over for pizza, pinata, and cake. Most likely the party will be held inside so I just thought I'd do something sort of easy and quick. The kids range in age from 5 (my daughter) to 8. So I don't think playing games would work out too well, it would be too chaotic. I also thought of getting a new movie that the kids might like to watch. There will be about 8 kids total.

Any other quick and simple ideas for an indoor birthday?

thanks!

Cris

  1. sounds fine! :)

  2. Why do you need to have two full-blown birthday parties? Having the one on her actual birthday be a big deal will take away from the Chuck E Cheese party.... What about just having one friend come over to have dinner with the family ( pizza if you want, let your daughter choose her favorite thing) and have a cake for dessert? Let your daughter open her birthday gifts from you then... she'll have lots more at her party.

  3. Rent a few movies for that week and have the kids watch it. after that they can play games such as Statue. How Statue is played, is you have the birthday girl be the leader since it is her birthday. And When she says statue the have to freeze in a funny position but they cannot move. she can move them in any position she wants (if you allow her) If they move they are the leader of it. You can also play red light green light and i possibly think you know how that goes!!!

  4. Um.... no it sounds just right about perfect. Just don't forget the pizza!.

  5. thats not too simple...ive had most birthday partys like that

  6. No that is not too simple!  Parents go way overboard planning huge parties and something small is all that is necessary.  When I was younger we used to do a simple craft, like painting something, or decorating a box or something of the sort.  I probably wouldn't do the movie though because it might be hard to get everyone to sit still the whole time.  Make your own sundaes with lots of topping and such is always a hit too!  Good luck!

  7. Nah your doing too much, just bake her a cake on her actual birthday and rent her a movie, unless...your really set on spoiling her

  8. simple is cutting a cake after dinner with just you and your partner.

you just planned two big birthday parties in one year.

  9. You can really go with the games part you just have to make them fun and appropriate for the kids age like musical chairs and something that they can really entertain themselves and not get tired @ all.

  10. no its not to simple ive had partys like that when i was little and me and my friends loved them!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. That's not to simple, that's 2 parties and she a lucky kid. We usually have a party on the weekend and go to dinner on their actually birthday and they can pick the restaurant. Your plans sound really nice but I would skip the pinata, little kids always get hurt when a pinata is involved.

  12. No! As long you make her party fun, she will love it.  Just don't mention that it could've been better.

  13. I really think you're going to have a tough time getting them to sit for a movie. When you get that many kids together, they want to play. Why don't you do a few games and have dollar store prizes instead. You could have a movie playing in the background. But I seriously would reconsider this idea. If you decide to go the route of games here is a site that has lots of different games listed. These are "Fairy Party" games, but don't be fooled there are a ton of great games you can call them whatever you want.

  14. That sounds like a perfect birthday party!

I usually have only 1 for everybody...friends and family so shes lucky and the indoor party is enough I guess...I think its fine.

Maybe you can do some art, not like paint or whatever but like puppets or other non messy things and all the things you planned already pproably will fit into the time the party will be.
