I want to download the audiobook of the book called The Game.

Is it available here:

http://www.torrentz.com/00b2d7eab61664c324b2d803d74843192a4f9e70

Can I know whether this download is illegal? If my internet admin finds out will i be charged?

Also, i have never used torrents before- if i want to download this audio file using the above website how should i do it? Are there any 'torrent softwares' that i need to install?

  1. yes it is, technically and BIG BROTHER is watching us always

  2. Most torrents are illegal but many, many people still utilise them.

uTorrent is probably the most user friendly torrent program.

It is very unlikely that your internet provider will find out and that you will end up with charges filed against you.

However do keep in mind that while the chances or being caught are incredibly slim it is still illegal.

  3. Torrents are just like anything else the government wont let you have for free.

It is illegal  to download torrents.

You will be charged for bandwidth

  4. The majority of torrents are illegal but many people decide to still use them anyway.

Big Brother may be watching us all, but he has too many people to watch. Internet Service Providers rarely cut someone's internet off due to downloading as that would mean a portion of their profits gone.

  5. Downloading torrents is NOT illegal. Downloading copyrighted material IS.

Be careful when downloading things. The file you wish to download does seem to be on the illegal side as it sounds to be copyrighted material.

You can also use uTorrent. Its a lightweight application to download torrents.

  6. I'll answer your bottom questions since the other posters are failing to read that far down.

You will need to first get a torrent client (http://www.utorrent.com) that's a small lightweight one that I really like.

Configure the client to work with your system (basically start it and go through the prompts).  Open a port in your firewall (if you have one) so your connections can be faster.

After you have completed that then click on the mininova one and somewhere on one of the pages it will say Download.  Once you do that the torrent will start, and the files that come with that audiobook are there.  If they are compressed (in rar or zip) then you will need to ask someone else how to open them.  I simply give the pandoras box to the person, I never tell them how to open it.

As for the legality of the link.  Yes, that is illegal.  You should not download it and see if you can find "The Game" somewhere else that maybe has it cheap.  Most don't worry about their "internet admins" because as one poster said is that the ISP's have way too many people to watch, one audiobook will not seal your fate.  However, it's addicting.  You will find an audiobook, then it will lead to other things like movies, music, and games.

    Best of luck to you,

    Chad

  7. it depends which country you are in, in canada for example, you can download pretty much whatever you like

downloading files that somebody else paid for is in effect stealing, torrents are just a way of downloading files from multiple locations at the same time.

  8. Technically it is illegal.  Odds are you won't be found out; but, the exact odds depend upon what isp you are using and what country you are in.

I am going to get a lot of thumbs down here and there is a good chance this answer will be removed before you get a chance to see it, but I am telling you the truth.
