10 "facts" about microwaves

I don't know if this is true if anyone knows please tell me.

1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].

2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.

4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.

5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.

8). The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.

10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.

Is any of this true? If it is or isn't true please post a link where you found the answer.

  1. I don't have a microwave so I don't give a s;;t. Google it by yourself or better yet use the yahoo search bar at the top of the page.

  2. Throughout the years, since microwave ovens were available, there were many speculations and concerns about mircowave ovens. Some were true initially, ie; a pacemaker implanted into a person could mess up the signal to maintain a healthy heart rhythm. Some speculations were proven to be inaccurate.

    Here's a web:

    http://www.mindfully.org/Food/Irradiate-...

I hope that this is helpful.

  3. Well, my family lives off of microwaved food. We haven't much money to spend on good food (or when we do, it goes towards other things) and it's the easiest thing to prepare, given we haven't much time to cook, either.

I know number 3 is wrong. My man and I can still make babies... And we still want to do the making process.

  4. You can't prove a negative.

All of the statements are neo luddite nonsense.

  5. Here's just a few. The fact that the radiation is non-ionizing, which means it doesn't have enough energy to ionize atoms, but just excite them, which is why microwave ovens work.

    Radiation:

"The radiation produced by a microwave oven is non-ionizing. It therefore does not have the cancer risks associated with ionizing radiation such as X-rays, ultraviolet light, and high-energy particles. Long-term rodent studies to assess cancer risk have so far failed to identify any carcinogenicity from 2.45 GHz microwave radiation even with chronic (ie, large fraction of life span) exposure levels, far larger than humans are likely to encounter from any leaking ovens. However, with the oven door open, the radiation may cause damage by heating; as with any cooking device. Nearly every microwave sold has a protective interlock so that it cannot be run when the door is open or improperly latched."

    Nutrients:

"It's true that cooking reduces the level of some nutrients, but this is true of all cooking methods. It's the heat that does it, and with boiling or poaching there's also the fact that some nutrients are leached out into the water. Microwaves pose no special risk to nutrients and in fact may preserve more of them because cooking times and temperatures may be lower than with conventional cooking methods. Yes, I know that there are many web sites claiming that microwaves destroy nutrients, but they are wrong. Ask these people about their scientific background, may I suggest."

"Spinach retains nearly all its folate when cooked in a microwave. In comparison, it loses about 77 percent when cooked on a stove because food on a stove is typically boiled, leaching out nutrients. Steamed vegetables tend to maintain more nutrients when cooked on a stovetop than in a microwave. Bacon cooked by microwave has significantly lower levels of carcinogenic nitrosamines than conventionally cooked bacon."

"The bottom line: Microwaves do not change the chemical components of in food and so the formation of new compounds, like carcinogens, is not expected. Some studies have been conducted to investigate any possible negative health effects of microwaving foods. These studies, which have been reviewed by Health Canada scientists, have found no evidence of toxicity orcarcinogenicity."

  6. Wrong......................................

  7. where did you find this?

    i doubt its true...

the only bad thing about microwaves

is you get radiation if you stand to close.
