And if true, and she became President then would she receive a pension when leaving for being first lady and President?

  1. I think more politicians in Washington should follow Ron Paul's example, and return part of their huge salary to the treasury every year.

  2. If it is, then every first lady gets the same pension, so you can't nail it down on Hillary alone.

Members of Congress also get a pension, some of whom only serve for 2 years.

  3. Yes, and Ford got a lot of pensions as he was Vice President and President and in Congress for years so at one time he got the biggest pension..as they all add up plus secret service protection  for him and his wife.

  4. Sometimes there are rules about whats termed double-dipping.

    Sometimes there aren't.

Since the position of First Helpmeet doesn't have a salary, although it does have a staff and full-time responsibilities I'm glad to see that those poor to-date Firsts finally get some money.

Just thinking of all those receptions in high heels would make me donate.

I don't think I would like the Secret Service following me around all the time, not to mention how you have to have a place big enough and secure enough for them to approve it in the first place.  To me that would be like always living by someone elses rules, never knowing who is reporting to whom.  Not much fun at all.

  5. I believe you are right.  I know they get secret service protection for life.

Why not a pension if they earned it?
