I heard from a friend that from time to time, airplanes release the waste accumulated in the septic tanks while in flight! Is this true or is this made up? How does that whole proccess function?

  1. Made up.  They are emptied on the ground.

  2. What a disgusting myth! Haha. What happens is when the plane lands at the airport, the people who work on the runway open a latch on the side of the aircraft that is similar looking to the gas tank on a car. They stick on a really big hose that looks like the hoses firemen use, except wider, big enough to fit your head in. They then just use that big hose to suck out all the sewage into a large tank where it is then disposed of! Welcome to the beautiful realities of the airline industry! Haha.

  3. False. Everything goes into a holding tank and is emptied  after the plane lands.

  4. If thats true, you better watch out for pee rain or poo rain, j/k!

Its fault, they pay for a group of people to clean the plane after the plane has landed...

  5. Cruise ships release the waste into the ocean..... something to think about.

  6. Absolutely not!  The holding tanks are serviced from outside the airplane, and there is no way to do so from inside.

On earlier airplanes the toilet emptied into a holding tank that contained "blue juice" a disinfecting and deodorizing solution that recirculated when flushed.

Newer models use very little water and a vacuum process to clear the toilet bowl and deposit waste in a holding tank.

  7. obviously not, y would they do that? what if there was another plane behind it and all of a sudden **** flies into there wind sheild.
