Question:

Is this true about petrol: better to fill up your car in the morning compared to other times in the day?

filling petrol is better done in the morning, because later in the day, the heat of the sun will turn a little part of the petrol into gas, therefore if you fill up your car in the afternoon, you'll get less amount of petrol compared to if you fill in the morning, before the sun rises.

is this supported by facts, or scientific explanations, or its just untrue claims?

  1. It has been measured and it comes out to something like .001cent per fill up on the test car.  Not worth worrying about.

  2. Is very true.My husband say the can see the differences

  3. No.

The theory is that liquids will be denser at lower temperatures, however fuel stored underground is at a pretty constant temperature no matter how hot or cold it is.

If you had to queue for 2 seconds because the driver in front had the same idea you would have burnt more fuel than you saved if the theory was true!.

Keep a light right foot and plan ahead - you will save fuel and have a more relaxing trip.

  4. see petrol is a very volatile material which has a very low vaporisation temperature which can be verified by taking a small amount of petrol in your hand which will vapourise in a matter of time and this is the same reason due to which petrol is also used for cleaning purpose as it carries away the dirt along with the vapors..hence as in the morning the temperature is low it cause least vapourisation however u can also do it in the late night time whn the surrounding is cooler...

nd moreover in many places early day time gas prices are lower so u save some money there also

  5. wow. interesting question.

  6. Underground storage gasoline tanks are not affected by surface temperature changes, makes no difference when you fill up.
