Is this true or BS? Ties were part of WW1 uniform so wounded soldiers could have an arm band / truncate?

  1. BS.  

    Ties were the mandated part of the military uniform of the day.  Yes, they could have been used as a tourniquet, but that wasn't the intended purpose.  During WWI, service members only received one duty uniform due to the mass numbers of service members and the limited availability of uniform producers at that time.  Unlike today where service members have multiple uniforms for different purposes.
