Question:

Is this turf toe?

After I run/walk for about 15 minutes, I get a stabbing pain in the base of my big toe on one foot. It doesnt happen the whole time walking, just at the last part of the step, when the heel and the ball of the foot (barely) are off the ground.

It stops for a few minutes if I take my shoes off and stretch it and flex and point my foot and work my toes.

It started the week before last, and I didn't do any running or exercise at all last week. I started exercise back up today, and it did it again.

So, does it sound like turf toe? It not, what's the deal?

  1. its a stone bruise..i bet it itches sometimes 2...it'll go away eventually

  2. In many cases, the pain in your toe is actually being sent from trigger points in the tibialis anterior muscle of the front of the lower leg. The referral pattern for these trigger points includes the big toe and the head of the first metatarsal bone, the place where the toe joins the foot. The pain can feel as though it’s actually in the joint. Some therapy (stretching) can help aleviate the condition

Gout is another possibility which is nothing else than the deposit of urate crystals in the joints creating toe pain. This is caused by uricemia, which is the result of too much uric acid in your blood. A diet of too much meat and too little water is likely to promote uricemia.
