In canada, can i get charged for leaving my snapping turtle in my boat outside??

ive had my snapping turtle for over a year now. i left it in the boat for like 3 months. only cuz i cant afford a bigger tank. but i still feed like i usually do when he was in the 10 gallon tank. she is healthy. my neighbour said i should put it in my house cause i can get charged for leaving it in my boat and killing it. they said the turtle wont be able to stand the heat. SO HELP ANY ANSWERS ARE GOOD

I can't see any harm done from what you've said. The animal has shade, food, heat, a shallow and deep end in this boat, right? If anything, he's getting better treatment as he has access to real sunlight, so you don't have to spend bucket loads of cash on expensive bulbs. As long as he has cover from birds who might be tempted to peck at him, it's fine by me.

You really do need to get a bigger tank as soon as you possibly can. Turtles are cold blooded and can't regulate their body temperatures like humans and other warm blooded animals can. A turtle left in an outdoor enclosure without deep water and access to shade can die from heat. They can also freeze in the winter.

I wouldn't worry so much about criminal charges, as I would about the fact that you may be causing discomfort or death to helpless animal. Even a cheap plastic wading pool on a shady porch can be a decent turtle habitat, but you have to put some time and money into caring for your pet. If you can't do that, please give him to someone who can. He deserves a happy comfortable existence.

is it in water... either way it is animal cruelty if you cant care for it give it to someone who can and dont listen to jimmy he has issues

EDIT: o so its pretty much a pond shaped like a boat at least thats what it sounds like i just thought it was in an empty boat like out on a lake or something and if its made it 3 months its fine
