Question:

Is this vertigo due to depression or lexapro?

Ok so I was diagnosed a couple of months ago with depression and an anxiety disorder and just recently have began medication (lexapro) for it. I'm about 3 weeks in and I believe the medication is starting to work for me ever so slightly, but I've been getting these weird "out of body" attacks. I call them attacks because it varies, and it comes on so sudden almost like panic attacks but different. I feel very dizzy, the back of my head feels really heavy, and sometimes I twitch, for example just recently my left eye began twitching. Sometimes I can feel my whole head twitch! Is this what they call vertigo, and is it caused by my depression or could it be side effects from the medication? Has anyone else experienced this?

  1. Sometimes meds can have really strange side effects until your body gets used to them. Like brain zaps, dizziness, nausea, fatigue. I think Lexipro's a good med and it may take another two to three weeks to reap the full benefit. Sounds like you're starting to become a happy camper already. My personal palethera of side effects were nausea, fatigue, euphoric roller coaster ride sensations (but those stopped...bummer) and a little nervious arm jerk. We all have our own oddball things happen. Sometimes we may even feel a little more anxious after we start taking antidepressants because we focus on our diagnosis. It'll pass.......

  2. I used to have that head twitch thing and they found out I'm epileptic.  Acutally I felt the twitch, but everybody said they didn't see it.
