i'm from hull and don't really follow the sport but i do know that hull f.c have sold less than 5000 tickets for a stadium that holds 80 or 90 thousand. this weekend could end up been a farce, what do you think ?

  1. i went yesterday and saw all 3 matches the atmosphere ws amazing the hull fc v hull kr game was good but the best match for me would have to be ST HELENS v wiggon warriors coz st helens are the best team in the world and we won of course i luv em i luv em i luv em

  2. I think that "Millenium Magic" will be a failure.

It is a very expensive ask of the fans for an ordinary fixture.

I feel sorry for the season ticket holders who will mostly be missing out on a match.

  3. I think the concept of all those games over two days is a great one for rugby fans like me but the planners have unfortunately missed the most vital point in all these games.  The thing that makes local derbies so special, in whatever sport you love be it Football, Rugby Union, League, Basketball or just a pub quiz, is that they are 'local'. That's what makes them so tense and the atmosphere in the stadiums so electric and wonderful.

You put on your club colours, the ones you have supported all your life and off you go to the ground....not hundreds of miles but up the road into enemy territory.... or wait your heart thumping with anticaption as they come into yours.  Suddenly mates you work with all week, just for one day, are your rivals because they are KR supporters and you support Hull. Families are split because grandad is a Leeds supporter and mums family are all from Bradford. It's a special day. There is literally nothing in sport to beat the intensity and atmopshere of a Derby day. You have been looking forward to it for weeks, ribbing your rivals and then you walk up the steps and out into the sunshine, into the cauldron.  You could be having a rubbish season, but suddenly just for a day its the 'Clash of the Titans' and beating you local rivals means everything. One win and it makes up for all the pain you have had to endure the rest of the year, the bragging rights are yours. Loose and you are subjected to further months of wind-ups and jokes.  Whole careers can be transformed on scoring a last minute winning try or kicking a goal in a derby.  People can say I was there.....I remember when.......!!!

If you have to travel hundreds of miles to a huge near empty stadium somehow it's just not the same. OK if it's full like on a one-off Cup Final day sure with 30,000 of your supporters and 30,000 of theirs but it was never going to be like that was it, too many teams. There is no way you would ever get that same derby feeling...the one that makes the hairs stand-up on the back of your neck, gives you a sick feeling when you loose, ectasy when you win. For that someone needs home advantage.

I have to say I applaud the League for thinking of it, but please for true fans sakes let the derbies be what they are 'Local'.  End of....

  4. The stadium holds around 67,000 and I have been there twice for challenge cup finals when the rhinos lost. It is a long way for fans to travel and think of all the pollution caused by the vehicles on top of the bank holiday travel. I would rather see Leeds rhinos play the Bradford Bulls at a packed Headingley than a half or two thirds empty Millenium stadium. It really is too far to travel particularly for those who have to work on Monday morning as some folk do. Its all about trying to market the game in Wales as there is growing interest but it seems unfair depriving fans of derby games in their own stadiums. It needs a bit more thought. Its a fantastic stadium and a great venue for a final but it should be reserved for finals however there are plans to do this for the next two years as well I understand. Still I'm lucky as I have Sky and can watch the rhinos on that. Having said that I now live in scotland and it is an 800 mile round trip to watch a game at Headingley but Cardiff is just too far around 1400 mile round trip so I have no option other than to watch on sky.

  5. i think that that it will be a success but why are they holding it in Cardiff, when most of the teams are up north apart from the quins, so shouldnt it be held nearer to those towns so everyone doesnt need to travel that far to get there (well apart from the quins fans)

  6. It had  better not  be a complete farce, its costing me a bloody fortune to get from Cambridge to Cardiff, stay overnight, watch the games and come home!!!! I thought having all the derby games in wales was a bit unfair, the whole of hull shouldnt be expected to travel to cardiff for the match.....

    Looking forward to it though.

  7. The RFL have allegedly sold just under 20,000 tickets for each day. I was there when Bradford beat Leeds in the CCF and it was near enough full, i can't imagine it being a good atmosphere with only 20,000 fans there!
