  1. not at all. i ride western at a showing barn where only one other person rides western.

    its fine to do both!

  2. Not at all. I think its great that you try new styles =]

  3. no, not at all

  4. i know this clinician named Barb Apple, and her people only ride english, i came with only my western and prolly was the most comfortable, i don't think it is weird to do that, i have gone to several riding instructors that usually use english, than i come and use my western. if you like both and want to change back and forth i wouldn't worry about being weird, you are the one boarding there and you can ride how ever you want.

  5. No, not at all.

The only negative that I could think of is if you wanted to have lessons in one of the two disciplines and perhaps they specialize in one or the other.  But, then again, most experienced horse people might or do know the basic differences between the disciplines.  However, if you were planning to show, I would think that it is best to associate yourself where that discipline is the main one taught so you would be able to go to the appropriate shows.

Just one other thought though...and although it really is ok to ride both, is the "peer pressure" that might be encountered...but all in all, it's quite alright to do!!

I think it is great to be a versatile rider!!

    Have fun!!
