  1. I believe there are plenty of believers out there who are mean and vicious. And I've met a few non-believers in my time who weren't.

  2. (17-20) The joy of the seventy and Jesus’ warning.

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."

    a. Even the demons are subject to us in Your name: When we look carefully at the commission Jesus gave these seventy (Luke 10:9), we see that Jesus had not originally commissioned them to cast out demons (as He did the twelve disciples in Luke 9:1-2). Therefore, this was an unexpected blessing of their ministry.

    i. When we step out and do what Jesus tells us to do, we should expect that He would bless us with even more than He told us to expect.

    b. I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven: What is Jesus talking about? The Bible actually mentions four falls of Satan.

    i. From glorified to profane (Ezekiel 28:14-16).

ii. From having access to heaven (Job 1:12, 1 Kings 22:21, Zechariah 3:1) to restriction to the earth (Revelation 12:9).

iii. From the earth to bondage in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3).

iv. From the pit to the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).

    c. Here, Jesus speaks of Satan’s "first" fall, from glorified to profane. What Jesus just saw in the disciples was evidence that Satan had already lost his position of power. He is a conquered enemy, and when we act in the name of Jesus, victory is assured.

    d. In remembering the fall of Satan, Jesus also warns them against pride. After all, if Satan could fall like lightning from his place of high spiritual status and privilege, so could they.

    e. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you: Jesus then warns them to rejoice in what God has done for them (because your names are written in heaven), not in what they had done for God (that the spirits are subject to you).

    i. Some people get "drunk" on the idea of spiritual power. After God uses them in some way, they have an arrogance that is very impressed with all they do for God. God wants us to always see that what He has done for us always is far greater than what we could ever do for Him.

  3. The Bible, if you read through most parts very carefully, is an extremely contradictory work of literature. There are, nonetheless, people who claim they will and do follow the Bible right down to the last word-ok fair enough. It is understandable that they will heed God's word in regards to no murder, no lying, no stealing, and the like. Ok, how about this. Look at Exodus 35:2, God basically demands that we kill those who work on the Sabbath Day. So they're telling me that a man who works 16 hours a day, 7 days a week to put food in his three children's stomachs and clothes on their backs should be killed, for wanting nothing but the best for his children? Very illogical and IMMORAL if you ask me. Some may say that "The times have changed." Ok, if you look at 1 Peter 1:24-25, "The word of the Lord stands forever," and Psalm 19:7, "The law of the Lord is perfect." So why are people picking and choosing what they want and want not to follow?

-I'm not trying to antagonize, I am just trying to encourage people to think critically and carefully about everything in life.

-Oh and by the way, to the respondent who said atheists are just confused...Yea, we may be confused, but at least we are honest about it. We are willing to question and critically think about everyday things in everyday life.

  4. No, I get mad and mean and vicious when fundies try to get their creationist nonsense taught as science, try to stop people from getting legal medical procedures, treat people like second-class citizens because of sexual identity, and tell everyone who doesn't agree with their beliefs that they are going to h**l.

  5. I am a true Pastafarianism, and unlike our Pirate Overlords, I am neither mad nor mean nor vicious.  Perhaps you are the one with the unfriendly attitude by asking such a rude question with such an excess of question marks.

May you someday be touched by His Noodly Appendage.

    rAMEN.

  6. Yep. You have super powers. Use them wisely my fellow believer!

    (ROTFLMAO)

  7. There have been many believers who were "mad, mean and vicious" Fundamentalists spring to mind. Any who "With great power comes great responsibility" I don't want responsibly so ha!

And what is an amplified bible? Is it like a normal one but louder?

  8. that is NOT jesus speaking to you, that is an excerpt from a book of fiction being used to justify a particular behaviour

  9. These were not the words of Jesus but of man. Jesus was a master and a great messenger of God and therefore would never have said such things..God is pure love, truth and Joy and has never and will never judge, condemn or punish for any reason.. Do not believe this message came to you by accident.  God bless

  10. yes, it is one of the many reasons...the fact that Christ is not in their heart is reason enough.

    rain man

  11. Most atheists don't believe any of that. I think that they are upset because they are confused.

  12. Amen, lime head kat..life with Jesus is just GRAND!!!
