Is this why upper class educated of men of certain color dont date within their race?

I asked this question using the word african american but it did not post...

Is it because ebony women prefer somebody who is more street-wise and thuggiish? So these men are forced to date caucasian women because they will most likely find them kind of edgy and somewhat mysteriously dangerous anyway. True or false?

That question leads people into making potentially racist comments. I think it's assanine. People choose who they want, and what characteristcs they want in their wife/husband. You are implying a culture issue amongst blacks/whites that borders on unethical. Every color has it's loosers and winners/ snobs and good  natured people. Every one knows that. Who we pick to marry or date should be based on comfort, not a predisposed opinion of what that color means.

But, I am interested in what people say...

There is no evidence for your hypothesis.  Your question sounds very prejudiced to me.  

There's not just one kind of upper class educated black man, and there's not just one kind of black woman.  Individuals have individual preferences.    The only generalisation that might be helpful is that people often choose partners with similar backgrounds, and in view of the pervasiveness of racism in modern western societies, an upper class black man will find that most of the women from similar backgrounds are white. Nevertheless, many date upper class black women.

Excuse me? I'm a black woman & I most definitely do NOT prefer the streetwise, thuglife caricature of society's "black man", that is in essence killing Black America, just look @ racist statistics pointing out all these negative things about blacks, especially black men. I support black men & to be honest, I'm dating an Armenian guy right now who is very nice but even w/ that, I don't dislike black men. A good man is a good man regardless of race.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that many successful black men marry & are married to black women but the media does not like to portray successful blacks at any cost so of course you probably didn't even realize this.

False, utterly stupid. I am a woman of color and I don't prefer street wise thugs, I am well educated and I look for the same in a mate. You have a nerve to assume that all black women like thugs and expect no more from life, this is just your bias opinion and have nothing to do with fact.

No not true and let me make this clear the educated ones...omg.....ok a guy with a higher IQ then me is a turn on, and I do see black males with that sometimes but it never happens because:

1) Either wants s*x without knowing me well

2) Shows some signs that are not normal...like controling

3) Have gold teeth and ARE thuggish

Anyway they are not forced to do anything, some and even a white lady told me that they tell her its a step up by dating a white wome...somehow us black females are animals I guess.

But no its about the media, snow white, and all of the white princesses are shown as the best, sweet and kind, and something to be proud to have. We will have a black Princess only because some ebony people got fed up and was ready to declare a unfairness and Disney world would be Racist world so they are making it only because of that.

But O.J was upper class too...so there not all that great.

But my type of guy is preppy or a geek, I love rock and R&B and oldies so hope he has close to the same tastes, I hated the pants down since I was ten and the gold teeth are a joke! Five days ago some guy rolls his windows down calls me shorty.....something thats stupid to me and smiles so I can see all the gold...I kept walking far away.

To the first poster thats not true unless your a nudie then yes you would. I wouldn't mind dating out but he has to not be thuggish....I was going to date this cute white guy until he said Naw and whats up too many times...ruined it.

For one thing, you're generalizing.

For another thing, I know plenty of upper class educated men of color who are married within their race, and none who are married outside their race.

You need to start looking at people as individuals.  Who they marry is based on who they fall in love with, and nothing more.

Um, no.  These men are using excuses because they want to run away from being black.  Ask them what attracted them to a "white" woman and they'll talk about what's wrong with the black woman.  What is that?  Also, black women should try not to give the men a reason to leave by calling him a "scrub" and making him out to be less than her.  They can find women now that won't do that.  So what's your answer?  I know.  The women will go over to the other race as well.  The last statement is true for the white women though they will bring up other reasons, of course.  Would you truthfully say something like that?  If this wasn't the case, why don't we go and marry Indian women or white women go and marry Japanese men?  Think about that and you'll realize what's going on.
