Is this worth it? Cat teeth cleaning and switching vet situation? Please help me!!!

I have two cats- seven and two. They both need their teeth cleaned and one needs a tooth pulled. The problem is, we aren't rich and our vet doesn't accept Care Credit? Would it be worth it to switch vets just so that we can get their teeth cleaned? We've been putting it off for a few months, but I want to get it done by October.

Thank you!!!

  1. well i wouldnt say cleaning their teeth is super important but if ur cats tooth hurts and needs to be pulled i would say yes

  2. Certainly. If your vet doesn't accept Care Credit than I think it would be an excellent idea! Especially if your bundle of fur needs a tooth pulled. Good luck switching the vets! :)

  3. Talk to your current Vet and see if they will make payment arrangements or see if there is a "low income" vet service similar to Maxfund in Denver.

  4. infected and bad teeth can cause havoc on ur cats health, number one thing on cats is kidney failure. but with bad teeth that in time can lead them to not eating and can cause fatty liver disease (liver shuts down), dont put it off, get it done, prevention is the key

  5. Yes, it is always worth it to change vets if you are not happy with the one you are seeing. Dental problems should not be ignored. Especially a tooth that needs extraction. They are VERY painful.

As a former vet tech, I used to see animals come into our clinic from other vets who did not want to be bothered with anything but giving vaccines. They would not see their own clients for emergencies. They sent them to us.

So by all means, find another vet.

  6. if they need their teeth cleaned and your one cat needs a tooth pulled, then yes, you should switch to get it done.  you should switch anyway..what would your vet do if you had an emergency but didn't have the money? if you know a vet with care credit then go there. it will be better all around.

back to the teeth..cats and dogs get heart disease the same way humans do from not having their teeth properly cared for.  don't put it off any longer..especially for the kitty with the bad tooth.

  7. Yes find a vet that will allow promissory notes this is where you can pay what you can sign a note saying you will promise to pay the remaining ( in some case the whole amount)balance with in a reasonable amount of time back to them.  I go to VCA vets and pets they are nation wide and they accept promissory notes.  Yes you should change vets asap.  Remember it doesn't hurt to ask. Good Luck.
