A dealership is selling this Jeep. I don't know if the doc fees have been added yet. How would I know if the timing belt need to be replaced? I hate to buy it and something would be wrong with it.

  1. No, the doc fees pluse taxes will be added at the signing for the vehicle.

This price is probably what the dealership wants you to pay for a 6 year old vehicle and you buy it, there will be dollar signs in their eyes. Get the particulars on the vehicle, condition, mileage etc. and check it out at www.kbb.com. You just might be surprised. Six grand for a 6 y/o vehicle seems high to me. Unless you pay cash you will end up paying at least if not more than $8,500 for it. Think before you leap.

  2. i am looking for that same car and till now the best i found was a  2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 68,000 miles for only $7,500 .

so i would not recommend to buy a used car with over 100,000 miles but if you do check the motor.

  3. You should probably keep on shopping, that is the kind of vehicle that people are looking to unload right now so the price, even in blue book, has been coming down, so it is really a buyers market for these vehicles.  Shop hard, especially privately and you can find a much lower mileage vehicle for about the same money.  Plus when you're buying a vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it you are going to have to do repairs and maintenance on it that are going to incur cost.

Please read up at this website, he has a lot of great information that will save you a lot of money. http://usedcartips.org/
