Is this wrong? HELP!?

Question

I believe my mother is a pycho. But, maybe I'm just overreacting & being immature.

She just took a shower & put her robe on. She was walking around the house in her robe. That's fine. It's not like there were guests over!

But, her robe was open. Like, the strap was not tied around her waist!

She was exposing herself. Not everything, but quite enough.

I yelled at her & told her to of cover up & she acts like it's no big deal! She's like "I'm not ashamed my body!"

That's good! She shouldn't be!

But, please don't take that confidence too far! Especially not around me, her daughter!

What do you think? Crazy Mom?

Did she not realize? I don't think you should have yelled at her but asked her nicely to tighten her robe.

I think that is wrong, just tell your mom u feel uncomfortable when she does that.I mean she shouldn't be ashamed of her body, but she can be proud of it AND keep it to herself at the same time.

I guess that depends on how old you are. I think "yelling" at her probably didn't help her reaction. Perhaps try speaking to her calmly when she isn't prancing around naked and explain to her that it makes you uncomfortable, even if she is comfortable. Maybe that would help. You are both female so there really isn't anything "wrong" with not being covered up, however if it makes you uncomfortable mom should respect that.

Yes, you're over-reacting.

She doesn't have anything that you haven't seen before - you're just not comfortable with your sexuality yet, so you're not comfortable with HER sexuality.  

She is.

I remember I used to be in the bathroom putting on makeup or brushing my teeth or whatever, and my mom would come in to use the bathroom.  She just wasn't concerned about modesty.  Sometimes I would leave to give her privacy, sometimes not, but it was just her level of comfort.  My BF does the same thing now, so not too weird.  She is your mom after all.  Would you share a dressing room or change your shirt in front of her?  I probably wouldnt' think twice about it with my mom.

Its her house and she has every right to do as she wishes in it. As someone stated a "indecent exposer charge"?!?! Thats just stupid its perfectly legal for someone to be naked on THEIR property. She could sun bathe in the front lawn if she wanted. If you dont like it (which I would hope you dont) then just dont look. You do not have a right to yell at your mother in her house. You could try talking to her calmly but respect the fact that unless you are the one paying the bills you do NOT have the right to make the rules.

i believe you may have overreacted to the situation. Your mother should feel entitled to be comfortable in her own house. Having said that so should you. She is right not to be ashamed of her body. Yelling at her to cover up wasn't a nice thing to do. I can understand that around a stranger nudity can be uncomfortable, but this is your mother, she has seen you naked and you have seen her. Whats unnatural about being naked around each other.

Just wait until some grade school kid comes up to the front door trying to sell cookies and accidentally sees your mom. I'm sure she'll love having an indecent exposure charge on her record.

maybe she thought you were mature enough to handle seeing a little but of her skin....
