Is this wrong. please be honest!!?

i want to try and trace some of my mums family as she was adopted as a little girl. i know a couple of their 1st names and i THINK i know her brothers surname. if you think this is right would you please post me some links to good websites that may help me...if you think this is wrong then be honest but not harsh!!!!

MyHeritage.com has a good online family tree builder.  Ancestry.com is a bit better, but it costs money.  Not much money, but still money.  They do give a free 2 week trial (you have to manually cancel w/in 2 weeks or they'll charge you); I did that and got a LOT of research done in the two weeks.

Using the two together you should be able to get a lot of work done on it.
