  1. 1.No You can not catch it

    2. It will up when you put stuff on it

    3. I would put thrush x on it when you trimmed his feet. I don' t see y not ride him.

Use thrush cure stuff which u can find in stores

  2. 1. No, it can't cross the species barrier

    2. It can last a long time. From what I've experienced, it can last between 1 week and 1 year, but I don't know if the person who told me about those times was honest.

    3. You could ride him while he has it - could meaning he is physically capable of that, but it is strongly recommended that horses get rest and treatment so they can recover. My friend's horse had thrush, and she decided to ride him. He ended up getting permanent injury to his legs and went into retirement at age 12.

    4. You really should talk to a vet, but keeping it clean and making sure the horse rests are some basic helpers

  3. 1. no. it is not contagious to humans.

    2. if not taken care of or if it goes unnoticed then it can get bad.

    3. it's not a good idea...      :(

    4. get some extra strength iodine and soak the affected hoof.

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. 1.)  Nope, it's not contagious.

2.)  Well it you hit it with Thrush Buster and depending upon how bad, about a couple of weeks.

3.)  If he's not sore, sure, ride him.

4.)  Old timers used bleach or formalgahyde (sp?), but Thrush Buster works faster.

  5. Thrush is not contagious to humans.

How quickly it clears up depends on how regularly you treat it, and how extensive it is, (how deep in it has gone to the hoof).

You can ride if he is not lame or in any pain or showing any hoof tenderness when he moves, if the thrush is mild or moderate.  Don't ride if he's tender on it or moves differently.  Remedies:  Try  livestock strength iodine or Apple cider vinegar, be sure to pick out the hooves before treatment, try to keep them clean and dry; keep the horse out of the mud and so that air can get to the hoof where its thrushy.

  6. I've never gotten thrush from my horses before. If you soak the infected hoof in 50/50 water/apple cider vinegar daily that will usually clear it up in a couple weeks. Depends on how bad the hoof is.

You can ride your horse if he has it unless it has made them lame, then you should stay off of him until it he isn't lame on it anymore.

  7. Hello,

    1.  We NO you won't catch it!

    2.  It can last a LONG time, it depends on how deep it is in the sole and frog.

    3.  You can ride, if it isn't bad...more of the superficial thrush.  If it is deep and the horse shows pain when cleaning the hoof, NO you shouldn't ride.

    4.  Get some extra strength Iodine at your feed store, clean the hoof and brush the iodine on generously 2X a day.  DON'T use the iodine if it clears up, it can be drying!  Keep the horse out of wet areas to help control the bacteria.

    Hope some of this helps!
