Is this safe to use??????

is it normal for your boiler to make schoosing/running water sounds?

is there actually water in the boiler? would this be what this was coming from?

when we turn it on it makes this running/schoosing water sound? we never noticed this before but cant be sure it may have been like this b4.

i dont know much about boilers

we had a gas leak in august 2007, got it fixed (a small bolt had come off inside one of the valves) and there was gas leaking, it was fixed, and serviced in august and then checked again in november 2007, but i dont trust the boiler as its old.

its a gloworm/hideaway boiler has anyone had this make of boiler?

does this sound normal? please help

edit: when we turn the heating on, the boiler makes this sound

edit: we had a gas leak from the boiler

  1. get a proffessional person who is qualified to come out and have a look you cant take chances with things as important and dangerous as this

  2. I am assuming you're speaking of a boiler that heats your home?  Yes, there is real water in it that the gas fire heats up.  The water will make this noise as it heats,  It then circulates around your rooms through "radiators" as steam or if it's cooled down enough, water.  That is part of the noise you're hearing, too.  Hot water heat..as this is called...is one of the most even heats available. (very desirable).  You should have a water valve that lets water into the boiler as it turns to steam and condesates away.  You make want someone to do a "Service check" since you said it was old.  But, I've had this kind of heat and it did make some sounds as if water were running or hissing.  But, I'd have it checked for peace of mind.

  3. the gas leak has nothing to do with the water in the boiler.one of two things1)how long have you had the home and have you experienced a heating season yet to no if this noise is normal.the furnace may need to have the lines bleed this is done by slightly opening the small k***s on each rad in each room allow the air to escape until water comes out then close bleeder k**b.2)your circulating pump my be breaking this happened to me and we needed a new pump either way get a technician to look at it

  4. Call a plumber - I could give an informed opinion but if I'm wrong you may blow up.

Do not take chances with your future!

  5. Sounds like your boiler need bleeding... it has air trapped in it. When did you first take notice of the schoosing noise just after you had it serviced in November bet it was?

    Get the engineers out again.
