There is a simple method that X can use so that X always wins no matter what O does.

Does this not render it pointless?

  1. It depends who is playing... but, if you think it is pointless, try making a bigger grid, like 5x5, or 7x7, and swap who goes first every other game.

  2. Not really. It helps you learn how to ancipate your enemys moves. It is more or less a very simple verson of Chess.

  3. NO... people might think it as but really it isnt... sometimes you actually have to use strategy or you'll lose... also x cant always win... it matters w/ who starts

  4. With correct play the game is ALWAYS a draw. Once you know how, it IS pointless. The strategy is very simple: You take the centre square first if you can, then the corners.

  5. i don't know it is fun though

  6. It is pointless, because between two good players the game should always be a draw. The game is too simple I'm afraid. We are talking about a 9 grid board right?

If you found a forced win I'd sure like to know about it, because I never lose, even when I move second.

  7. Did you ever see the movie "War Games" featuring Matthew Broderick -  by getting WOPR to play endless drawn games of tic-tac-toe against itself which segue into cycles through all the nuclear war strategies that WOPR has devised. WOPR then learns that "the only winning move is not to play".

  8. yes

  9. Tic Tac Toe is pointless once you understand how to play it.  However, the process of learning how to solve tic tac toe probably gives some valuable lessons in recognizing patterns and planning ahead.

  10. never pointless but a game of strategy.

i dont like to lose but sometimes do.
