Is topless the norm at beaches around Barcelona or just in designated areas?

Definitely the norm at city beaches, but if you don't go topless you won't feel out of place - if that is what you are concerned about.

There is no designated areas, you can wear whatever you want or you don't want to. I only know Barcelona's major has made new laws against some bad habits, specially in order to be dressed when you are traveling by public transport.

It is standard... But like any beaches in the US, some have better looking people than some other:)
