Is training with cannon good for a level 54 range in Runescape?

Question

Should I buy a cannon if I have the money and use it to train to 60 range? Maybe even higher than 60 range? Where should I set it up to train? You still get 4 xp per hit right? I had a feeling you get 1 per hit...

The cannon is the best way to get ranged exp, i used it to get from 40-50 range, but it cost me about 300k worth of cannon balls and 600k for the cannon alone. you might be able to counter the cost of it by using it on green drags, but be ready for "cannon noob" harassment XD. and yeah 4 xp per damage, at lvl 40 range i was hitting 20-30 with it.

the best place that ive found to set up the cannon at is at the lesser demons in karamja, set up the cannon and hide and you should get around500 - 1k exp a min

Cannons are great to train with in the right places at any level. My favorite places are the wallaski on Waterbirth Island, the jungle & cave horrors of Moss le Harmless, & the dust devils in the smoke cave. The cannon brings them right to you already injured & you just have to finish them off with whatever other weapon you have with you.

P.S. it's not 4 xp per hit. It's 4 xp per point of damage delt.

Do not use a cannon. Cannon does give fast xp but in the range skill only. You get no xp for hitpoints. IF you are a pure then you should train with iron knives as they are cheap and quicker than firing arrows or bolts because you need high hitpoints.

I used a cannon from level 60 to 75 range (= no HP xp)

I high alched from level 60 to 94 magic (= no HP xp)

so ive got 94 mage , 75 range and i only got 72 hp wtf ?

the only way i have trained hp is by traiing my attack ant str

so when training range avoid cannon otherwise you get a mucked up account like mine.

I was level 113 when I quit and I can tell you cannons are exceptionally bad experience and FAR too expensive. I'd recommend pest control using bone bolts and dogeshun crossbow. You can buy this from the forums. To get to pest control take the boat from port sarim to the void knights outpost. I believe you can only access the beginners boat, so you should start there. You get 1 point per game plus in-game experience. Once you have 100 points you should cash them in for additional experience. Once your combat level is higher you can use the intermediate and veteran boats for faster points. Pest control also provides you with money per successful game. OR you can use chinchompas- very fast experience at an extremely expensive rate (better than the cannon in my opinion). You'll use around 800k-1m per hour with around 100k range experience - that's phenomenal!  I strongly recommend that you DO NOT buy a cannon if you want to level fast try the chinchompa method, but keep in mind you should bring prayer pots to restore pray and lots of food. Go to an area with lots of monsters where they constantly respawn and attack you. For instance the skeleton monkeys in the multi-combat dungeon on Ape Atoll. Hope I helped and Good Luck.
