I'll be traveling for 11 days with this group. We all see the sights together, and eat meals together and we even stay in the same hotel. Is it only me, but I think of this trip as a great adventure and I feel no fear. But I've told a few people about this trip and they think it's risky.

  1. I went to Italy with a tour group as a single and had a great time.  If you are with a group, there is less of a risk.  I even added 3 days on my own to the end of the trip and was fine.  Whether you are traveling alone or with another/group it is always wise to be aware of your surroundings, pay attention to any suspicious behavior and try to not put yourself in a hazardous situation.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

  2. I did it a couple of times, when I was younger.  I had a great time.  With conditions the way they are now, I'd suggest you stay with the group, and not wander off on your own.

  3. well i have never done it but when i was in barcalonea with my friends last year we stayed in a hostel and there were plently of people travellings around europe by themselves. they were all a great laugh and we dragged one of them who was by themselves out with us. so if you go by yourself you will meet plently of people and you probably wont feel like your travelling by youself... but then it all depends on how you feel and dont listen to the negative things people are saying to you, there are negative aspects on almost everything in life so dont dwell on it. have a fantastic time if you do do it, and i doubt you will regret it!!!:-)

  4. There are 2 kinds of travelers... those who need a tour group to go with so they can talk english and those who wouldn't be caught DEAD on a tour... The very LAST thing I would EVER do is take a guided tour... but to each his/her own... enjoy.

  5. I traveled 7 countries in Europe on my own.  No tour guide, no group of people who were my constant companions.  So, no, I don't think it's crazy.  It's actually a very smart and convenient way to travel safely if you are a single traveler.
