Is true that if you trade in 100 used metcards at the train station they'll give you $30?

I just heard this from my sis who heard it from her friend. I personally think it's just a load of baloney but am also slightly curious whether it MAY be real or not. Sounds too good to be true though!

  1. Which city are you referring to?  In general, I'd say this is probably a myth: the lightweight cardboard farecards used by most cities are essentially worthless, and can't be cleaned for another customer or otherwise recycled.
