i've heard some bad stuff about it. like you shouldn't eat a lot b/c of the mercury levels. and that if u eat it a lot while ur pregnant, ur baby has a high chance of becoming autistic. im really concerned now. i used to have it everyday for lunch as a little kid. my mom would always pack that in my lunch. and recently i havent eaten any b/c i was paranoid but now i am eating it again. but im worried im eating it too much. i've had it 2 times this week. i dont want anything bad to happen to me! are my concerned warranted or is this just another over exposed, overrated, myth?

  1. its good for protein

  2. Pregnant women should NOT eat tuna, shark, swordfish or any of the other fish that could have high mercury levels.   No one should eat too much of it either, until the mercury levels subside (if they ever will)....  Try eating salmon instead

  3. NO!! Tuna is actually really good for you it has omega 3 which is good for your skin and protein which helps builds muscle and repairs tissue  also it is recommendedto eat fish at least once a week.

  4. When you were a kid, there wasn't a problem with mercury.

It's safe to eat it 2X/week if it's the White Solid Albacore...the other types of tuna don't have the problem with mercury.

BTW, Atlantic, farm raised salmon also has lots of mercury...try Alaskan or wild salmon instead.

Pregnant women should not eat tuna at all.  Yes, your concerns are warranted.

  5. High mercury levels are in tuna.  Try this recipe if you are not pregnant:
