  1. Think of it this way. T.V. minimizes socialization,It's a baby sitter and makes some people couch potatoes.Look at all the reality shows, some people live thru them.

  2. depends but i love cuddling up on the settee with my husband to watch a good film!

  3. it could be seen as a distraction away from things that a family would do if they were bored...

  4. TV is not killing family life.  Both here in UK and Germany, we have had TV since the 1930s and from the 1950s onwards, TV in both countries became even more important.

People in my childhood of the 1940s and 1950s often said that TV would be our downfall and that it would only lead to the break up of the family.

It has done quite the opposite in fact and actually drawn people closer together.

BBC experimental colour broadcasting 1938 yes 1938

Broadcasts such as those above and many more have actually brought the nation together and not divided families up.

  5. At least families watch TV together and talk about the programmes.

Now the computer...that really IS killing family life!

  6. yes most definitely. it stops the family from socialising and spending quality time together which is important for all family members, but particularly children as they need to develop communication skills which will help them in the future and is vital for their upbringing.

  7. It could go either way, it could a social distraction in that people miss out on going out and doing things as a family as they are sat in front of the Television or it could be the opposite in that its the one of the only times a family sits down together to enjoy something and is in a sense another form of socialisation...

I think its a bit simplistic to say that Television is killing family life, there are also many external factors and what is the definition of family life?

lol..i think i could write an essay on this myself!

  8. Been killing  it for years.

The internet, however useful, has finished it off.
