i think it is the end for test cricket as people will get bored as it lasts 4/5 days. People would rather enjoy twenty20 as it is more exciting and enjoyable to watch.

Also any views on allen stanford

  1. T20 matches r excellent...... it means fast cricket ......... majority of people like it

  2. 20/20 is like a hamburger compared to Test cricket's fillet steak.

It's ok, it fills a gap, but it ain't the real thing... and you dont know how good it gets till you've tried the real thing.

If you have the attention span of a newt and are easily pleased, then of course you'll think 20/20 is the greatest thing ever.

As for Stanford, he reminds me of the sort of guy who amuses himself be making other people humiliate themselves. If the ECB had any guts at all, they'd tell him to take his cash and stick it.

  3. I'm a jock and most of us hate cricket, because test cricket is is televised mostly. So boring. 20/20 is sharp quick and certainly more exiting. The answer in my eyes is yes.

  4. Any cricket game is boring in my opinion, watching a guy bowl a ball at another guy to hit is just dull. But if ya like that sort of thing then good on ya.

  5. I certainly hope not. 4 and 5 day cricket is proper cricket.  Its how the game started out all those years ago.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Twenty/20 but am a big fan of the County Championship and Test Matches.

Who said the younger generation was bored by cricket??

  6. It is the future of cricket in America.

It could really open the market up over their and the simalarities to baseball will make it easier to explain.

In the test playing countries it will be the only form of cricket in 50 years time, but will take some time to slowly take over.

It will happen, I have no doubt.

The instant gratification society has begun and it's only going to get worse.

I personally would love to see T20 and ODI combine to 30/30

cricket, you would get most of the T20 benefits with most of the ODI benefits.

    2 Things cricket should do:

Overthrows should not go against the bowler - Put them in extras, unless run outs get counted as a wicket for the bowler.

Let two bowlers bowl as many overs as they like in ODI and T20.  If your best batsmen can bat for a whole match then why

can't your best bowlers bowl for 20 overs?

Just for the record - I love test cricket, but the masses will slowly become disinterested and Tests will be "once a year" novelty matches.

    Remember this post

For those of you who like me, love test cricket - Vote with your feet and get to the game - Otherwise don't complain when it dies.

  7. no.the only people who enjoy 20/20 are people with a short attention span. cricket purists will always favour test cricket

    allen stanford rocks!!!

  8. When One Day International cricket match was introduced there was a feeling that it will be end of test cricket. However, testcricket has survived even after so many years since ODI was introduced.  Though T20 form of cricket is most entertaining and exciting, test cricket will still survive as it is the true form of cricket and true skill and talent of the players can be seen only in test cricket.

  9. yes

  10. it s not future.its just changing.u r welcoming young players.y cant u welcome this t20?

  11. well you can call my twisted or weird (h**l i get called worse than that on a daily basis), but for the sake of this, i will relate cricket to one thing (almost) know something about, s*x!

T20 is a "quickie" - hard and fast and gets a result, but its all over very quickly and it doesnt take a whole lot of skill and ability to get a decent result (altho she may have a different opinion!)

ODI cricket is like going all night, it takes more skill to be able to last longer and perform better for longer periods of time, and in the end the rusults are more satisfying

Test cricket, it like Tantric s*x, having the skill and ability to perfrom for hours on end, to get the most satisfying results possible, its more difficult to do it, but the results that it gets in the end are so much more satisfying

as for Allen Sanford, i think its great he want to put big money into cricket, but i think he should be trying to promote all forms of the game instead of just flogging T20 cricket

Having read this, i now realise somthing....i really need to get laid!! that aside tho, test cricket i beileve is the most satisfying to watch and as a player i think it would be the most satisfying to participate in

  12. I like cricket, but am not fanatical about it. I've always been amused by the fact that someone has designed a game that can be played for days without a result. 1938-1939 Durban Test Match between England and South Africa was 43 hours 16 minutes over 10 days, and was drawn as England had to leave to catch their boat home. Nutters...

Twenty 20, being the future for cricket or not, who can really say, though I doubt it will go away. I think it has the right balance for big entertainment, more so than the one day matches. It's like taking the last part of a one day match, when things are close, and ignoring all the slow start. You're starting with the finale. It's bound to impress most anyone, especially kids, and that's where the future lies. It'll be the game they'll want to play. No kid wants to stand around all day. They want to get in and have a bowl or bat, not scratch their butts or pick their nose for hours on end.

Also, it's good to invite a few mates around, have a few drinks and be entertained. If you want to invite a few mates over for drinks and watch a test, you'd better own a pub :)

  13. 20/20 is very interesting but Test match is the soul of cricket so its clear that no one can stop it.
