i am moving to hawaii in a year with my cousin and i was wondering if two full time minimum wage jobs would be enough to support us living there?

Two minimum wage jobs would be about $32,000, and you have to pay Hawaii state income tax.  It would be tough, frankly.  You would need to share housing, as it would be difficult to find something (even a studio) that you could afford so that you would have some money to spend.  Be sure to watch the economy--ours is softening very fast and many tourism jobs are disappearing for awhile.  


  2. maybe. it's so expensive here. i know many families where both husband and wife make more than minimum wage and still struggle just to pay the rent. maybe if you and your cousin both work 2 jobs and share the costs of living and rent a small cottage, it might work out. best of luck to you and your cousin.

  3. I don't think you will be able to make it on minimum wage, even with two wage earners.  It will not match the cost of living here.  The only parts of town where you could even think of making a go of it are areas where it would probably not be safe for a malihini (newcomer) to live.
