Is universal studios hollywood VIP experience worth it?

My son and I will be in LA in 2 weeks. We plan to visit Universal Studios. I will be buying the Front of the Line pass so that we can bypass all lines. However, I am trying to determine if the VIP experience tickets are worth the money (almost $200 each). We love movies, behind the scenes, etc. I believe the VIP tickets include the backlot tour, free tram, lunch, reserved seating at all shows, front of the line to all rides, etc. My feeling is it may be worth it, but I wanted to see if anyone has actually experienced the VIP at Univ Studiios yet.

I have been to Universal Studios twice and am going again in September this year. The first time I did the VIP pass and the second time I got just the front of the line pass. For the difference in price the VIP pass is not worth it. For the extra little bits such as the tram ride and the behind the scenes tour you are wasting a couple of hours that could be better used by going on more rides and using the front of the line pass as it was intended to be used. Remember the park is only open for 8 hours so it is quite important to use the time you have in the best way possible. Going back in September I have bought my front of the line pass already from the internet and would definitely recommend that pass to everyone but not the VIP pass.

I think the best part of the VIP was front of the line to all the shows and the VIP seating area.  The shows were awesome and going past everyone was even better.  The free tram tour and the backlot was alright, nothing spectacular as I thought it should have been more.  We didn't get any free lunch either, I hope you get it.  Was it worth it...yeah but would I do VIP again, probably not.  If they make the tram tour and backlot more exciting yeah I'd do the VIP again.
