  1. No.  The U.S. Embassy would be the embassy of the United States of America.  The U.K. Embassy would be the embassy of the "United Kingdom" (England, Scottland, Wales, etc.).  These are two different countries.  Technically speaking, the U.S. Embassy in some other country, like say Russia, is considered to be U.S. soil (just like it was in the U.S.A.).  Likewise the Russian Embassy in the U.S.A. is considered Russian soil.

Having said all that, embassies are embassies.  They serve the same purpose.  They operate the same.  If that is what you are asking, then yes, the U.S. Embassy is pretty much the same as the U.K. Embassy in its function, purpose, operations, etc.

  2. UK doesn't have an embassy in London:-)

All embassies act in the same manner, they have the same rights and same responsibilities towards the country they are in. The rules were established by the Vienna Convention.

US embassy in the UK is a US territory, as is the US plane or US ship. Same, UK or German or any other country's embassy in Washington DC is a UK or German, etc. territory.
