Is using Firewire on a Sony DCR-TRV740 different from using it on the other DV cams?

Hello guys! i have this Sony DCR-TRV740 camera. It's pretty old: it uses an 8mm tape.

I'm wondering if transferring the video from this type of camera is any different from the cameras today that use mini-DV tapes. If yes, how? Or do I simply plug the Firewire just like that?

The DCR-TRV740 is a Digital8 tape based camcorder.

Transferring video to/from the DCR-TRV740 to a computer using firewire is the same as transferring video to/from a miniDV tape based camcorder.
