  1. yes..........and i'm not sure about the whole downloading thing........

but it's like any illegal thing..........like burned cd's, and anyone can have access to it......

    besides it's so much easier...........

  2. Limewire itself is not illegal. However most of the things you can download from using limewire is illegal such as "free" music, videos, pictures etc...

Personally, I dont use these anymore because:

    - Most of the files you download are not safe/stable

    - The file system is a mess, I mean most of it is not named properly

    - Opens more ports on your computer, thus revealing it to attackers

    - You can now get charged/go to court for having/download illegal music (its an action of the ISPs, the people who provide your internet)

  3. yes its illegal, and anyone can dl and use it because theres tons of stuff on the computer thats illegal haha

  4. yes totally legal

p2p program are legal but the content isn't always

  5. Using limewire can be legal, but many people use it for illegal purposes.  If you are sharing public files that you wish to share that are your own, it's perfectly fine.  For example, if you create your own songs and share them on limewire, it's perfectly legit.

On the other hand, if you use it to share videos and music and receive videos and music that are copyright by someone else, you are violating the law.

Compare it to a gun.  Guns are perfectly legal, you can use a gun for hunting, for show, for target practice.  But if you go and use that gun to shoot someone else, that's illegal.

If you actually read that End user license agreement of Limewire and understood it, it would explain that you shouldn't use it to share copyright works.

  6. Limewire is NOT illegal, but many people use it to download protected content, which is illegal.

There are many legitimate uses for Limewire, though. Some small companies release games through Limewire or Bittorrent. Some bands want their stuff on Limewire. And so on.

I stay away from those things because it opens up my system to tons of attacks, and I'd rather have a stable, safe computer than whatever I'd get off of Limewire.
