  1. Not really, it takes a lot of power to run those, and it will hold a charge for a long time, even after you disconnect the power.

  2. Yes they are safe, but an electron gun that is not in a vacuum is useless. Same for the screen.

    .

  3. The first answer is wrong on several levels... it's the HIGH VOLTAGE applied to the SECOND ANODE of a picture tube that charges it up because a picture tube is just a big capacitor.  But... it doesn't take a lot of POWER... the 40,000 or so volts that are usually applied to the second anode of a picture tube is at just a FRACTION of an amp... LESS THAN ONE MILL.

Anyway... back to your electron gun and phosphor screen.. Use it for WHAT?  It takes more than just an electron gun.. it also takes the deflection coils just to focus the beam... if you just apply a voltage to the anode of the electron gun... and don't do anything else... NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.  In addition, if you try to operate the electron gun and it's not in a vacuum... YOU WILL BURN IT OUT.

So, like I asked... use it for WHAT?
