Is using an unsecured wireless network connection illegal?

and whenever you see a secured connection, obviously you need a password, but if you asked a neighbor and what not and got it, would they have the capability to see what im doing as well as an unsecured connection.and how do these connections become un secured and secured , how do you get them like that.and finally i live in an apartment, if i wanted my own wireless connection, how could i do it, and if the answer is a router what type of router, thanks to all that answer.

you could get a router for urself but you would have to get internet connection on your apartment also

i recommend buying a Belkin Wireless G router it is cheap and its easy to set up it also provides you with a range distance of 400 Ft.

oh and remember that if you dont want ur neighbors to use ur internet set a password for the router
