Is using hydrogen peroxide safe to use for whitening teeth?

My friend started using it and said it works great. Does it work for you? Is it safe?

  1. I tried using it... right afterwards, it made my teeth so sensitive.. I couldn't eat for a few days.. and I only tried it once. I wouldn't recommend it.

  4. Yes, it is safe. You can even use it as a mouthwash, but DON'T swallow it.  Most toothpaste brands use hydrogen peroxide as an active ingredient. I have tried it but it irritated my gums, but it did significantly whiten my teeth. Make sure your friend is still brushing their teeth with regular toothpaste, as the fluoride is essential to prevent tooth decay. You can also brush with baking soda: whitens well too.

  5. It does work but it's not safe. It wears down the protective enamel on your teeth and then you will have very sensitive teeth for the rest of your life. I like the crest whitening strips much better.
