  1. Only to a point.  Cells do not have consciousness or the ability to make choices.


  2. It depends on what one is using the analogy FOR.

    ALL analogies break down at some point. If that point is central to the purpose of using the analogy, then the analogy falls; if the analogy is used for something the two things have in common, then it works.

    Most uses of the analogy between a cell in a body and each person in a society that I've seen fall.
