  1. Dear Veraswanee, just before I answer the question, I am an Essendon supporter and I too was unhappy with the performance tonight, but I also understand why. The Bombers had 24 fit men to choose their team from - they had to take as one emergency a boy who played for the VFL yesterday!

I don't think the Bombers tanked to give St Kilda the double chance, as I heard mentioned tonight.

Think ahead to next weekend and you will see that 4th spot plays Geelong. Geelong could beat the all Australian side.Certainly the Saints will have a double chance, but they will be feeling worse than Essendon after the shellacking they will get from the Catz. And then have to face probably Adelaide or Collingwood!

I am fourth generation Victorian and I am happy with any side in the top four or eight who deserves it - who hasn't got it because of AFL bias or umpire incompetence or a fixed fixture.

I think the best eight teams made it this year, and may the best teams win!

  2. Well I am big into conspiracy theory and what happened today has me feeling very suspicious.  I can imagine how the Adelaide fans must feel and I am wondering "Did someone or some team "lie down" to achieve today's victory for a Victorian side"??  The standard of the Essendon team was totally pathetic at this level.  I am sure they could have done a bit better than that.

In my dreams Adelaide and Swans in the Grand Final but er....I don't think so.   I think there have been too many embarrassing results this Season and to think they are going to get 2 more teams in.  It is an outrage.

  3. i an victorian and I'm not happy melbourne teams are in top four in the afl ill be happy when afl is gone cause afl is a game for haft a brain and for iq under 5

    NRL RULE AFL SUCK

  4. Geelong Hawthorn grand final

  5. Very happy

This is how it should be

    Yes

    It will be either.

    Geelong v Hawthorn

    or

    Geelong v Western Bulldogs

    Hopefully Geelong v Hawthorn

    and Hawthorn win

    :)

  6. congats vic its been along time between drinks

  7. when we get and all victorian top 8 then we'll be happy then teams like kangas and demons won't have to play at pov stadiums

  8. Well the good news is the Crows - my favourite non-Victorian team (and I live in NSW before the b*****s start) - actually don't have a second chance!!

My gut feel - without bias is that we will have an all Vic final six.  Adelaide and Swans have both been patchy and temperamental.   Mind u they're up against Kangaroos and Collingwood ... but my gut feel is they'll lose this week.

SOURCE:  I'm the official wooden spponer in my footy tipping comp, so start feeling good Crows and Swans fans!!

  9. It's called what goes around comes around!!

This is the beauty of the draft system.  Teams fluctuate from year to year.

    - Unless the AFL gives an unfair advantage - like they have previously with Brisbane and Sydney and salary cap concessions.   And they will do again with the 2 new northern clubs.

  10. I think its fantastic that there is a real possibility that two Vic teams may make the final...... All Victorians scattered across the country should be happy about that (as long as the Vic team in the final is'nt Collingwood - noone likes them not even Victorians!!)

    GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I think it'll be an all Victorian Grand Final with either Hawks, Saints or Bulldogs taking on Geelong.

P.S Crows don't have the double chance :)

  12. Yes.

Vic certainly have the best chance of having two local teams in the GF. However Vic still has a lot of catching up to do. Look who has won the most AFL premierships = WCE 3 & Brisbane Lions 3.

It is mandatory for a Victorian team to win the wooden spoon.

As the most heavily populated "Australian Rules" football state the Vics draw heavily on other states to prop up their teams. Plus they should be performing better, taking into account the population/teams ratio.

  13. There may be a full house of Victorians but mark my words The Hawks will win.

  14. d**n, its always good to have lots of differnet states getting into the eight or even better - the top four. But the victorian teams have been playing better and credit to them, lets hope the other sides not from victoria can bounce back soon.

  15. Its about time they need to catch up .

    Well said WC Eagles

All these thumbs down I still don't think they are happy.

  16. First of all, the Crows don't have a double chance, lol :)

It will be good to see a Vic grand final, but I can't say that Non-Victorian teams in the finals annoy me, as long as there isn't one team dominating!

  17. now you know why Umpires get abused at the footy

    some are really dumb

  18. Considering that VIC has 10 teams, it was bound to happen sooner or later. dont forget, you vics also won the wooden spoon, lol. nice work on that

  19. At least we left the wooden spoon for them :)

  20. We don't have a second chance (crows) we play collingwood and if we lose we're out.

What's the big deal about the Victorian thing?

I am so over all that stuff !!!!

I'm just glad we have a final here in little old Adelaide ;))))

  21. yes very happy

all is good in the world

    crows and swans PLEASE

  22. crows dont have a double chance mate they finished fifth thanks to essendon getting flogged by the saints
