Question:

Is volunteering an extra curricular activity or an interest?

There's an application for a college program that asks me to list my academic interests and talents in one section and exra curricular activities in another. I have a long list of extra curricular activities but I don't have any talents like playing the piano and i only have a vague idea of my college interests (medicine and education),

If I love volunteering, what section do i put how many hours i've done and the organizations i've mostly volunteered with?

thanks

  1. well this depends.

if you really love volunteering then i would put it as an interest. not an extra curricular activity. because its not somthing extra you do if its somthing you love to do right?

  2. I would say it is an extra curricular activity.

  3. It's probably not going to matter however I would say put it in interests as you already have a lot to go into extra curricular and I often thing extra curricular is something associated with the school that isn't academics.  If your volunteering is totally separate from school I would put it in with interests.
