  1. yes, youre at the perfect age to do that.

youre 16 so it would be best to volunteer.

if you can do it right, then in no time youll be having a paid job

    good luck

  2. Volunteering at stables gives you the opportunity to gain valuable experience and to get known as someone who can do the job.

I did this - it lead to a job at the stables and then to a better one at another place that was associated with them.

It is also a great thing to put on your CV and you can get the owners to write references etc for you when you need them.

A lot of animal related jobs work like this besides the horse ones.

  3. okay, well volunteering on it's own is worth it, b/c you can still put that on a job resume and use them as a referance to get a job.

next, volunteering a a horse stables that is just a bizz could lead to you being hired, but at the same time, they could also take advantage of the free labor or not pay you as high of a rate as you're worth, that is why most barns hire kids, b/c they know they usually wont have to pay as much.

  4. I think volenteering at a stable is a great idea! I did it and it is the reason that why I have my horse, boarding, and great friends today!  If you are experianced in the barn and with horses, you may consider being a stable hand for pay at a large ranch or boading stables. But make sure to tell them your statement right away, so they know what to expect.  Tell them the work is free for a while, and then tell them they will have to pay to keep you.  However, if you are not experianced or a stable won't pay you, I recomend volenteering anyway for free.  It is a great experiance.  It wins you some great friends, too!  You may try being a stable hand in exchange for riding lessons, as well. Whether you are paid or not, being a stable hand is a great experiance all around.  Hope I helped!!!

  5. Yes. You're at a great age to get in and help out so you can have experience by the time you want to apply for a good job. There are many shelters that take in volunteers and even some vets will let you come in and help out. The only thing that could be difficult is finding a place that will let minors handle the animals because of liability. If you get bit or stepped on (by a horse) they would be held responsible.

I know that we have a girl in high school who helps out on her breaks from school and we have already offered her a job if she wants it as soon as she graduates.

    Good luck!

  6. yea, i am 13 and i volunteer at a preschool. the lady i volunteer for said that when i turn 16 i will have a job there within a few days :) so i would say its deffinatly worth it
