  1. Getting up the first time is the hardest part, but with a good driver and some proper instruction it doesn't have to be so hard.  The balancing part is similar.  In wakeboarding it is all about edging.  You must learn the progressive edge during your approach to the wake to get the proper pop off the wake in order to do tricks.  For those who think it hurts less when you fall as compared to a snow board have not had their bell rung catching an edge and being slammed into the water.  Hitting the water from about 12 feet up and catching an edge at 25 - 30 mph can put your lights out.

I would suggest you pick up 'The Book' wakeboarding instructional DVD series.  It covers everything from the basics to advanced tricks.  A must for all wakeboarders in my opinion.  Check out http://www.wakeside.com for a good price.  It runs about $90, but definitely worth it.  Watch the second DVD, Basic Foundation and get those down pat before attempting to go large.  It will help you avoid learning any bad habits that are hard to get rid of later.  Get out there, its a blast and very addicting.

  2. The biggest difference is both the texture difference and getting up is totally different.  There are a lot of guides on this, but basically it's trial and error.  Once you do it once correctly, you'll have the hang of it.  It feels weird to be pulled up out of the water; you'll see what I mean!

  3. The balance skills are similar, so I would think being a snowboarder would help you get the hang of it quicker though. Water is a bit less predictable than snow though and if you're looking to do tricks, aerials and the like it's a lot more difficult to get any air time. On the plus side - if you fall correctly it hurts a lot less than on snowboard.

  4. HECK NO!

    Wake is so much fun.

    It is Harder Because

    1. you have to Keep your balance.

My Friend Andrew Is a famous wakeboarder.

    His name Is andrew adkison

    He made a World record.

    you should Check Him Out.

  5. i snowboard and wakeboard, and yes they are very similar. they turn the same(heelside and toeside) and they feel the same. the only difference is that you are being pulled instead of using gravity, so balance feels a little different, but wakeboarding is probably easier.
