I run everyday and I've started training a week ago. Is walking in periods then running for a distance not getting me in shape?

  1. no walking actually burns more calories, running is more for the cardio and endruance training.  I have heard of this thing called the army walk (I have not tried it but everyone I know who has said it works great)  So you walk for 50 steps (you count your steps based on everytime your left foot hits the groud) then you run for 50 steps then back to a walk then a run etc.  for about 30 mins at least 3 times a week..I have heard it is fabulous!

  2. at the start everyone walks a little... and those who don't are just risking injuring themselves... try walking up hills, the speed at which you do isn't really important. this will build up strength and stamina in your legs, that way you will be able to run longer without stopping... remember, running is a tedious sport that takes a lot of patience and dedication... don't be discouraged if you still need a walking break even after the first month, just keep going, it really pays off in the end.

  3. Yes it will, as long as you maintain a certain heart rate it will.

  4. There is nothing bad about stopping in the middle of a run. I'ts actually good, because you don't want to get extremely tired and not continue, always take a little brake. But remember that to get in shape  you must do it constantly, and it wont take 2 or 3 weeks, it may even take 1 month for you to notice some change. So keep it up!

  5. rest is always good

and you get more exercise with walking anyways, running just gets you tired quicker

  6. Running/walking is a great way of getting exercise and if you get out there and do it enough you'll eventually be able to run your whole route without walking at all. Keep it up!

  7. just keep running, even if you feel like walking

keep running, it doesnt matter if you can walk faster at that moment

  8. This is a great strategy, especially if you're planning on going into significant distances down the line. I'd build it into your plan rather than wait for the moment you feel you need to walk.

From right out of the gate...work in intervals. Run 9 minutes, walk  1 and repeat. Mix it up as you see fit to your abilities!

  9. Theres no Law against what your doing so walk if you want to...
