Is walking better than running for losing weight and toning legs?

i started walking today from my place to school and it took me an hour only because I speed up. I am planning to walk from my place to school for a month, 3 times a week cuz I need to lose weight and toned up. My upper legs are a bit chubby and saggy. Do you think I'd lose weight and toned my body if I follow my exercise plan?

Monday- Walk (1 and a half hour)

Tuesday- Exercise (100 sit up & 10-20 push up)

Wednesday- Walk (1 and a half hour)

Thursday- Exercise ( 50 lunges, 50 sit up & 10 push up)

Friday- Walk (1 and a half hour)

Saturday- Rest day.

Sunday- Full body Exercise ( 100 sit up, 20 push up, 50

crunches, 50 squats)

and might add up 20 mintues of bike riding as well .

Do you think if I follow this planning thing I'd lose weight and toned up within a month?

  1. if you run instead of walk, its a lot more efficient and better. but it also depends on the exercises you do.

  3. Yes, your exercise routine looks OK to me.

    To your question whether walking is better than running, it depends:

    1.If you love the exercise and enjoy doing it, that's the best exercise for you bec you'll then stay put long in the program, to see results

    2. If you walk with high intensity i.e. walk fast and cover your miles in shorter time, it's as good an intensity as runing and burn more calories too.

    Yes, you'll lose weight if you consistently do the program.
