Eight foot high fence, cast iron. Two choices for entrance/exit--a traditional gate, or revolving door-like cast iron bars

  1. No. The strike is looking for a ground and the metal gate on metal posts is a fast path also a strike near you can comeback through the gate. If its on metal posts. Stay inside during storms like that. I would say the revolving gate is worse because there is more mass of steel and it takes longer to get through it.

  2. probably not..

  3. It is not wise to be out in a thunderstorm at all if you can avoid it.

The lightning bolt is looking for the best path to earth and you want to make sure you are not the target.  And the hail can be nasty too!

But touching or being near a cast iron gate is  asking for trouble as it is probably an excellent path to earth for the lightning.
