  1. Unfortunately war is a necessary part of history. One thing war does is to control the population. Just think what the world's population would be today if those roughly 100 million people had lived to have children. War promotes advances in technology and medicine, especially surgical procedures and research. You mention the Great Depression, well it was World War 2 that ended the Great Depression, it was not started by a war.Good Luck and have a nice day.

  2. War is never necessary. We fight wars over resources, power, or religion. Until we can solve our economic, dictatorial, and religious/ethnic conflicts, war will be an inevitable fact of life, but it is never necessary.

  3. History can only progress through one kind of conflict or another (this often includes war).

However, I don't think there is any necessity, something "in our nature" here.  I do believe we can stop killing each other eventually.

  4. "The tree of liberty is nourished with the blood of patriots and tyrants", Thomas Jefferson

Appeasement didn't work with Hitler in the 40s. It won't work with todays tyrants either.

  5.   Yes. there will always be those who will seek to take what belongs to others, whether its their liberty, their land, or their lives. So unless a people or nation are willing to give up any or all of these, warfare will exist.  Only if the percieved cost is less than the percieved gain can one avoid warfare in such circumstances.

  6. Yes sad but true unfortunately history repeats its self .As we are now viewing.

  7. sadly, yes

it is human nature to kill each other....

  8. War is the failure of diplomacy.
