  1. It will severely irritate their gills and I think they can die

  2. THEY WILL DIE!!!! It is not an optional thing, it is mandatory. A goldfish WILL die if put in water that hasn't been dechlorinated. The best brandof water treater is AmQuel+, it also removes chloramines, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite, which are all harmful.  Also, I recommend using NovAqua too, as well as Aquarium salt crystals to make the fish more comfortable and to prevent disease. Goldfish can sometimes live in water that hasn't been dechlorinated but that has been left outside for several weeks, because the chlorine may evaporate. Good luck

  3. yes i have kill many fish with pure tap water.

  4. I would use a tap water conditioner if you plan on letting your fish live. Buy one that gets rid of chlorine AND chloramines, as they are worse for your fish. Without it, your fish will die.

  5. water straight out of the tap is fine if it is treated

this guy who i know has been into aquariums for 60 years said when the water is pored into the tank the chlorine evaporates

    i personally dont believe him
