How hot out does it have to be for rivers to reach 80 degrees farenheit and does 80 degrees feel warm or cold in water? I was swimmin in a river today and it felt pretty cool but Im not sure what the temperature was and I read that a deadly bacteria grows in water 80 degrees and above, now im worried..

  1. Water and air temperatures differ.  This is because water takes longer to either gain or lose heat.

Google for the name of the river, and the words "died" and "bacteria".  If what you heard is true and relevant, there must be a lot of death cases caused by swimming in that river already.  My expectations are you'll find reports of none whatsoever, and can stop worrying.
